Episode 4 - Entrevista con D-Alejo (Interview with D-Alejo)

Since traveling through Latin America, I've had the pleasure of meeting many interesting and fascinating people. Among them is a very passionate and talented young colombian who goes by the moniker D-Alejo. D-Alejo is a student and practitioner of the kind of hip-hop that I think has been banished to the underground (once again) and is struggling to be heard. We've seen these cycles before in the industry. But there's an added dimension to this in Latin America, where reggaeton is king--commercially speaking. I caught up with D-Alejo recently and he graciously provided me an interview.

Episode 2 - The Icarus Project

If you remember the story of Icarus, he and his pops, Daedelus, escaped captivity from King Minos. Their escape owed to wings that Daedelus fashioned from feathers and wax. Before they took flight the elder warned Icarus to be careful not to fly too close to the sun, or too close to the sea. Icarus, in his youthful exuberance, ignored or forgot his father's warning, and flew too close to the sun. The wax melted from the fabricated wings and Icarus plunged into the sea--a terrible end for someone who had just escaped captivity. I don't fault Icarus. The point is that he believed and saw no limit to the heights that he could reach. He was free. This show is about freedom and believing that the impossible is possible. I imagine that because of Icarus's fate, flight technology was improved (and I smile). The show named itself. I didn't intend to go down that path, but the journey was irresistible. Enjoy the show.
