Episode 7 - Profunda Oscura Caliente
November 19, 2009 01:46 PM PST
This is the other side of the "Profunda Oscura Mojada" mix that I did on the other podomatic space (longdayzjourney). I'm breaking my own rule by posting a show on this space that is more than 45 minutes in length, but I've been sitting on this mix for a while and thought I should publish it. Disfrute y no tenga miedo de mover tu cola con eso ritmo. Vale? Tracklist provided upon request. Episode 6 - Sleep-dancingNovember 13, 2009 08:05 AM PST
Sometimes, we are most free in our dreams. This is a mix of dreamy, danceable, jazzy AfroHouse and Brazilian tracks. Peace be the journey. Tracklist available upon request. Enjoy the show. Episode 5 - Otro Bembe en la PlayaOctober 12, 2009 09:07 AM PDT
A rich tapestry of beats fusing the sounds of Joe Claussell, Cesária Évora, Osunlade, Kiko Navarro and others. An uplifting, soulful mixture of Afro-Yoruba house and sounds which will take your imagination on a long day's journey. Enjoy the show. Episode 4 - Entrevista con D-Alejo (Interview with D-Alejo)October 01, 2009 12:58 AM PDT
Since traveling through Latin America, I've had the pleasure of meeting many interesting and fascinating people. Among them is a very passionate and talented young colombian who goes by the moniker D-Alejo. D-Alejo is a student and practitioner of the kind of hip-hop that I think has been banished to the underground (once again) and is struggling to be heard. We've seen these cycles before in the industry. But there's an added dimension to this in Latin America, where reggaeton is king--commercially speaking. I caught up with D-Alejo recently and he graciously provided me an interview. Support underground art. Support underground artists. Episode 3 - Riverside DreamsSeptember 30, 2009 10:06 PM PDT
This starts out with some soulful joints and transitions to some dancefloor stompers toward the end. Enjoy. Tracklist 1. Until Our Work Is Done (Boddhi Satva's Ancestral Remix) - Gabriele Poso

If you remember the story of Icarus, he and his pops, Daedelus, escaped captivity from King Minos. Their escape owed to wings that Daedelus fashioned from feathers and wax. Before they took flight the elder warned Icarus to be careful not to fly too close to the sun, or too close to the sea. Icarus, in his youthful exuberance, ignored or forgot his father's warning, and flew too close to the sun. The wax melted from the fabricated wings and Icarus plunged into the sea--a terrible end for someone who had just escaped captivity. I don't fault Icarus. The point is that he believed and saw no limit to the heights that he could reach. He was free. This show is about freedom and believing that the impossible is possible. I imagine that because of Icarus's fate, flight technology was improved (and I smile). The show named itself. I didn't intend to go down that path, but the journey was irresistible. Enjoy the show. Tracklist 1. We Can Change This World - DJ Spinna feat. Heavy (Yoruba Soul Mix)

Some cool-out, retro-sounding tracks. Nothing brand new. Somewhat contemporary, but by no means mainstream. Some of you soul/nu soul aficionados will, no doubt, recognize some of these. Enjoy the show. Tracklist 1. Far Beyond - Sunburst Band

Podcast SummarySoulful sound fusions of house, soul, jazz, and everything else between. About longdayzjourneyWell, nothing lasts forever. That includes bandwidth and storage. So, I've created this overflow page in order to keep doing what I love, and continue sharing with those who love it with me. This page will accommodate refugee shows from my other page, which has unfortunately exceeded its quota for storage. Please stop by the other page. I fanned it, so please be sure to check out the other shows there. I'm thinking of making this a wildcard page--meaning anything goes, as far as music genres are concerned. We'll see. I'm not married to that idea. The shows here will be limited in duration to 30-45 minutes (except for the first show), and the mixes will be tighter (not really how I like to do it, but I've got to be practical). Anyway, stop by. Drop comments. Let me know how you feel. Happy podcasting. Fans of this Show
